Northfield Caucus Seeks Candidates for Slating as Candidates for Village President and Three Village Trustees
Village of Northfield Elections April 2021
Press Release – July 31, 2020
The Northfield Village Caucus has initiated its slating process for the elections of Village President and three Village Trustees to be held in April, 2021. David Woodyatt, Chairman of the Northfield Village Caucus, announced today that residents of the Village of Northfield are invited to view the information package available for interested prospective candidates.
In the April, 2021 elections Village residents will vote for Village President and three Village Trustees, each serving a term of four years. Joan Frazier is the current President of the Village. The three Trustee positions due for election are currently held by John Goodwin, Gregory Lungmus and Thomas Terrill. Woodyatt invites all Village residents to work with the Northfield Caucus in identifying potential candidates for these significant positions. He commented “The forthcoming election is pivotal to continuing Northfield’s long history of successful governance and ensuring a stable future. I anticipate significant financial considerations arising from the lasting effects of the current pandemic as well as matters related to infrastructure, long range planning and senior leadership retirements. The Village looks forward to continued, committed and dedicated leadership as it has enjoyed for many years.”
Through a non-partisan process, the Caucus assembles the ideas and concerns of Village residents and distills them into basic policy and goals. The resulting Platform serves as a guide for the selection of Village President and Village Trustee candidates who are compatible with the tenets of the Platform. On September 28 through 30, 2020 the Caucus will interview prospective candidates, evaluate and vote on which candidates to endorse for the Village elections.
Nominating Committee Chairman, Al Chircop, asks Village residents “… to come forward in leading this positive agenda. Northfield has a great spirit, perfect location and its infrastructure make it an ideal community. The Village finances are in a strong position. This is an ideal environment for Village leadership to take Northfield’s appeal to another level. With the talent base in our community we have been fortunate to have found such successful leadership in the past. With the community’s assistance and engagement we look forward to this continuing in the next round of elections. We should not take our past success in finding strong non-partisan leaders for granted. We must work at it.”
Village residents interested in being considered for the positions of Village Trustee or Village President are invited to complete the application from the Caucus website and return it to the Caucus. The deadline for applications to be considered is September 23, 2020.
